Piano Moving

Pianos are often the heaviest single item in a family's home. An old player upright can weigh over 900 pounds! Pianos are also awkward to move, and their weight distribution can be confusing for inexperienced movers. DIY piano moving can be dangerous not only for your piano, but also for the movers and for the house. That is why at P.S. Pianos, we have:

  • Specialized piano moving equipment
  • A van customized just for moving pianos – we do not do general household moves
  • Specially-trained movers
  • Full insurance

Household movers are generally only insured for 60 cents per pound, which means that your new $70,000 Steinway baby grand piano is insured for less than $350! When your piano is under our care, it is insured for the total declared value of the piano. We also carry $2 million general liability insurance and are registered with WorkSafe BC. Finally, in the rare occurence that a piano does get nicked or scratched during the move, we have experienced finish touch-up artists that can repair damage to both traditional lacquer and high-gloss polyester finishes.
